About the Blog

Innalhamdulillaah

What is Saheefa?

Saheefa means pages in Arabic, conventionally used for notes. Subhanallaah, many of earliest hadeeth collections were recorded in Saheefah form like Saheefa Abu Bakr, Saheefa Amr ibn Aaas and so on. Saheefa Hammam ibn Munabih, one of the earliest Hadeeth collections, which still exists today was once a Saheefa. It was notes taken from lectures of Abu Hurayrah by his student Hammam. Abban ibn Uthman first recorded Seerah in Saheefa form. Following the footsteps of these giants, introducing online Saheefa. Yes I like to call my notes as Saheefa Umar Shariff

Two reasons will tell you why this Blog?

Reason #1: I am starting this blog to produce University level notes online insha Allaah. I am doing my Bachelors with KIU; I hope I can do that during the course of my studies insha Allaah

  • Alhamdulillaah, we may read lot of books, hear lot of lectures but when we are asked to recollect, how much we are able to? Notes will help you there
  • By the way, benefits of this kind of notes are tremendous: I can fall back on my notes whenever I have any doubts regarding the concepts I have studied. I can memorize, revise, recollect, and even write books out of it. Moreover, it will be Sadaqatul jariyah if my brothers and sisters read this (and smiles)

Reason #2: To publish online some organized notes on classical sciences (Usool ad deen) which are learnt mostly at Universities in an academic style. I believe this blog will help in mending the gap which is present in the English world insha Allaah

What this blog will contain?

  • In addition to notes taken from KIU lectures, I am afraid whatever notes I take will find its way here.
  • I will also post my random thoughts and reflections which pops up when studying books or hearing lectures insha Allaah.

My Manhaj (Methodology)

ooh, it is such a strong word doesn’t suit person like me. Anyway, when I say “my manhaj” here, I mean my methodology of taking notes

It is based on 3C’s: (anyone said Arkan?)

     1.      Concise – Take advantage of Jawami al kalim (concise speech) and be crisp

     2.      Comprehensive – Organize well to cover all the aspects of the topic

     3.      Creative –   Draw diagrams, tables and so on such that notes give clarity and tempting to read

As for Qur’aanic ayah, I will not type in the verse rather I will provide the reference like (1:2) which mean verse 2 of Surah Fatiha

As for Hadeeth references, I’ll try to give reference at Book level. If somebody can help me with Takhreej, it is most welcome. Finding references consumes lot of time and it stops me from working on organizing the notes. If you like to help me out in this, please click Contact me to inform or post the takhreej against each notes in comments area.

In a nutshell, “My Math-hab is outlined notes with lot of headings, tables and diagrams”

Whom this blog will benefit the most?

  • Those who are doing courses at university level
  • Those who are interested in fundamentals of Islaamic Sciences like Uloom, Usool and so on
  • Those who have already studied the subject or studying it. Aah, then why notes? Yeah, It will help you to organize your brain and get some clarity on the subject bi-ithnillah
  • Those who are in teaching field. It will help in organizing your presentation insha Allaah

Declaration/Disclaimer:

The notes posted here are just my running notes (taken while listening to lectures) and very little time is spent on English/Content checking. So if there are any mistakes, please feel free to correct me.  At the same time, I assure you, I will do my best to publish materials based on Qur’aan and Sunnah, according to the understanding of the Salafus Saliheen. (For the first time, disclaimer is neither too small in size nor any “Conditions apply” tag attached)
