Indispensible Islamic Apps and Resources for everyday
Alhamdulillah, we live in modern times when access to the Ilm and consumption are made easier. Below are some of my favorite resources and apps that can ease your day-to-day spiritual life. I hope you find it useful and benefit from it
Master Qur’aanic vocabulary with The Clear Quran Dictionary
When you learn Arabic and recite Qur’aan, you may still find some words whose meaning you do not know. You read the dictionary and forget. Sometimes you will tell yourself, Ah! I know the other form of it, but this particular word did not strike my mind this time.
Then you will find this app very useful. The author, translator of the recently popular The Clear Quran, has made this dictionary containing 2000 words from the Qur’aan that repeats itself more than 100,000 times in the Qur’an.
What I like the most is:
- Words are organized into nouns, verbs, and prepositions
- Most of the words have pictures to remember
- Each word is given all of its forms and how they are used in the Qur’aan
This is also available in the printed form. The author suggests reading 4 pages a day to master most of the words in the Qur’aan in 4 months. Worth a try.

Easy to read Mushaf for Non Arabs
You recite from your Mushaf (copy of the Qur’aan) and find yourself not able to read it fluently in places. In the print, you find words are congested to maintain 15 lines 20 pages a juz rule or fonts are smaller at places or some hurufs are written like one huruf.
You have a good news: the team at Dar Noor al Maarifa (دار نور المعرفة)has done a wonderful job rectifying those issues in their print. They have used simple Hafas Alaa TAHA font to remedy most of the issues Alhamdulillah. It also has abridged Qur’aani word tafseer on the side in Arabic and more resources with QR code at bottom of the respective pages.

Quran App from Quran.com
There are so many qur’aan apps in the store, but this one stands to be my favorite. It is a true no non-sense to the point app where you have different options of Mushaf like Uthmani, Indo Pak and even versions of King Fahd Complex. You can click on the word to know the meaning and an icon to know tafseer of each verse. You can colour code the important ayah and have a decent autobook marking of last 3 instances you read.
They also have a lite no-install version on their website that works well in mobile Alhamdulillah. May Allah reward their efforts

Duaa App from LifewithAllah.com
In the world of countless apps that have a mix of authentic and inauthentic supplications (duaa), Dhikr & Dua app takes care of authentic duaa well. They have a good collection of Sunnah duaa with evidence along with the regular Qur’aanic one. They have also organized into different theme of duaa like for Sleep, Salah, Umrah, Hajj, Istikharah and so on
I find it useful during Morning, evening, Friday evenings, Umrah, last 10 nights of Ramadan, and so on

I pray we continue our Qur’aanic journey post-Ramadan and that these apps and resources aid us in that.
