Indeed it is very easy for one to believe in Allah,but the true test comes at the time of hardship, where he/she is expecting something from a person and the nafs makes one forget that it is Allah who gives and He it is who withholds. So, at the end we only either praise the individual who helped us or curse or complain about that individual and many time include Allah as a blame for not making it happen.
We should have people share their views on how to develop that strong will and how the sahabaa and the salaf practised it.
