    assalamu alykum wr wb
jazakAllah khair for this action oriented tafseer of surah Kahf…we usually read the Quran as we would a story book with no thought about implementing it in our lives…knowing such fine details (like why it took ibn Umar (ra) 8 yrs to finish learning surah baqarah)about the sahaaba (ra) helps us to understand how is it that they were able to be such beautiful human beings who were so much in love with their Lord.
anyways i wanted to know about increasing consciousness of Allah in our lives..
isnt it true that reading the prescribed duas before our actions (like eating, going and coming in our homes) help us to increase consciousness of Allah?…the problem i have is that i forget to say the duas before the actions even if i know the dua..like i forget to say bismillah b4 eating and saying alhamdulillah after i finish…do u know of any cure for this problem?
    jazakAllah khair again brother
may Allah reward u with the best always inshaaAllah
    wassalam
    ur sister in islam

    Waalaikumasalam warahamtullaahi wabarakathuhu Sister,
Barakallaah fikum. Jazzakumallaah for your comments. I liked “Action Oriented Tafseer” comment 🙂 May Allaah bless us with implementation of Qur’aan in our Life.
Yes Taqwa (conciousness of Allaah) is increased by taking care of our Adab (manners). Hope you would have attended the workshop “Islaamic Ethics – 24×7” It is all about bringing adab in our lives 24×7. Refer to the handout for more info and plan.
There I mentioned the adab in Do’s and Dont’s form. You can write down the do’s in pocket size card and keep it with you for a day. Start ticking it after completion of each adab. I mentioned there around 18 Adab and its details which contributes to 24×7 consciousness. You can go through one by one. In 18 days, you will be able to complete it and get some grip insha Allaah. When you practice it again and again, it may become a habit insha Allaah. You will not worry about forgetting. I also mentioned there how each adab is connected to a Akhlaq. It will develop character as well insha Allaah.
    May Allaah grant you success
    Fond Regards,
    Umar Shariff

I forget to mention that I have also mentioned there what causes threat to one’s adab and how we can sustain our Ethics bi-ithnillaah.
Adab Self Introspection exercise is also available there. You can try that one again. Please check it. hope it helps insha Allaah
